Our research is mainly motivated by granular materials and their dynamics, but we also take great interest in general fluid mechanics and hydraulics. We develop theoretical and experimental work to better understand these topics, always aiming for engineering solutions and applied models. So please take a look at the webpage for publications, current funding and present members.
28.01.2026 New paper published in Eng. Geology https://doi.org/10.1016/j.enggeo.2026.108585 in collab. with Prof. Francisco Martínez, Simón Guerra and Bastián Araya (PUCV)
20.01.2026 We congratulate our student Tomás Fuentes for defending his MSc thesis with maximum honors. Looking forward on his bright future!
14.01.2026 We congratulate our student Alexander Navarrete for defending his MSc thesis with maximum honors. We wish him the best in his next ventures!
31.10.2025 New paper published in Meas. Sci. Technology https://doi.org/10.1088/1361-6501/ae15b5 in collab. with Prof. Daisuke Noto (University of Hokkaido) and Prof. Hugo Ulloa (University of Pennsylvania). Our student Tomás Fuentes (UAI) is coauthor.
20.10.2025 Catalina Salazar, Tomás Fuentes, Manuel Vallejos and Vicente Ortiz are participating and presenting in the XXVII Congreso de Hidráulica at Universidad de Concepción.
07.10.2025 With Germán Varas (PUCV) and Francisco Martínez (PUCV) we hosted the first National Meeting on Granular Research. More than 40 researchers nationwide came to Viña del Mar for an awesome day full of presentations and discussion. We hope it's the first of many!
18.08.2025 New paper published in PoF https://doi.org/10.1063/5.0278378 in collab. with PhD (c) Tianxiong Zhao, Prof. Xia Li (Southeast University), PhD Daisuke Noto and Prof. Hugo Ulloa (University of Pennsylvania)
